1. Consumption
drank water, 5 min shower, flushed toilet, washed hands
Blueberry muffin for breakfast, steak and cheese for lunch, 2 burgers, fries, chicken
Electricity-used my phone, lights and charged phone and ipod
Gas-none
Money-about $8 at Wendy’s
2. Reduction
Cut back on lights on in house, didn’t drink much all day.
3. Sustainability
i don’t think reducing the food we consume is very sustainable, because i wasn’t able to even begin to cutback today.
4. Peers
some people are finding alternative methods for heat and turning the heating in their houses down.
1. Consumption - What did you consume today?
Water- drank water throughout the day. 5 minute shower. washed hands, flushed toilet.
Food- egg for breakfast, turkey mashed potatoes and stuffing for lunch, fish for dinner
Electricity- no tv, used computer for about half an hour, used phone, didn’t use ipod
$$Money$$ - What did you spend money on today? $3 on food
2. Reduction - In what area of your current lifestyle did you try to scale back the use of specific resources?
I reduced my computer time by a little, and didn’t use my ipod today
3. Sustainability - Are there any changes that you made to your daily routine that you could envision making for the long term? Can you reduce your consumption permanently? Why or why not? Please be specific, and provide examples.
going without tv is easy so far, but the reduced computer time will be harder to sustain. there are a lot of things that i need the internet for during the day
4. I see that everyone has been keeping up the effort to reduce their consumption.
1. Consumption
water- had some water to drink, brushed my teeth, short shower, flushed, washed hands.
food-egg for breakfast, beef sub for lunch, chicken for dinner.
electricity- used my phone, didn’t watch tv, used internet for about an hour
gas- drove to school
money- spent $52 today, 10 on food and 42 on a cable for my computer
2. Reduction
took a 5 min shower instead of a 10 min one
3. Sustainability
its not that bad reducing water if its only coming from my shower, but i think that if i took it away from anything else it would be harder to sustain
4. Following
Most people today talked about shortening their showers again. I also saw that one of my peers did Walk wednsday instead of waterless wednsday; that seems to be a good idea because they conserved energy by walking to the station rather than getting a ride
1. Consumption
Water- Drank about a gallon, flushed toilet, 10 minute shower, brushed teeth, washed hands
Food- Egg and sausage, pizza with fries and milk for lunch, and rice and pork for dinner, a sub
Electricity- Used computer for a couple of hours, lights
Gasoline- didnt drive
Money-bought school lunch and a sub after school. about $5 in total
2. Reduction
still taking short showers, and making sure to turn off lights and faucets after i leave the room. used my computer less, but that’s mainly because my screen started to glitch(apparently i have a broken video cable connector fml).
3. Sustainability
getting used to the short showers and reduced TV; it doesnt seem like it would be a problem continuing these two.
4. Peers
Cutting down on water consumption such as shower time seems to be what most people are doing. also i knoticed a lot of people have also made an effort to spend less money
1. Consumption - What did you consume today?
Water –Drank about 8 glasses of water, took a short shower, brushed my teeth, washed my hands, flushed the toilet
Food – ate school breakfast of egg and sausage, school lunch, a sub from subway and some chicken for dinner
Electricity –used computer for homework, and to watch a movie. charged phone but not ipod, didn’t watch TV
Gasoline – didn’t drive.
$$Money$$ - Spent $7 on food
2. Reduction
I took a short shower, watched less tv, and used my computer sparingly. For money Monday i didn’t really cut back on my spending because all of my expenses were for food.
3. Sustainability
I do not think i would be able to sustainably reduce the amount of money i spend; there are just too much things that i need to buy throughout the day (food included).
4. Following
I found that a lot of people also had a hard time trying to spend less on food. it is hard to imagine what it would be like to not be able to get food whenever we are hungry.
Yea i know this is a little late, but since yesterday was social networking Sunday i decided to abstain from going on social networking sites such as tumblr. (best excuse i could come up with)
1. Consumption
Water - drank 6 glasses of water, took relatively short (10 min) showers. aside from that not much changed here, still brushed teeth washed hands and flushed.
Food – skipped breakfast, ate a sandwich for lunch, and had some rice and chicken for dinner
Electricity – Made sure to turn lights off when i left a room, watched about an hour of tv, used my cell for about 30 mins in total(not counting time texting)
Gasoline – drove my father to my uncles house (about 2 miles, under a gallon of gas)
Money - Spent $15 on food
2. Reduction
I was more conscious in my usage of electricity, took shorter showers, watched TV less, and used my computer less. I don’t use Facebook so there weren’t much cutbacks in my social networking.
3. Sustainability - one long term change that i could make is watching less TV. Honestly there’s never really anything to watch, and i didn’t care much for the loss.
